VATICAN -- The Vatican has added to its website a section in Latin, which was for many centuries the official language of the Roman Catholic Church.

Basic church documents, such as the Bible and papal speeches, are now available in Latin in a new section entitled Sancta Sedes - Latin for The Holy See.

Pope Benedict wants the Catholic church to keep its ancient traditions.

Last year a papal decree was put out only in Latin by mistake by the Vatican's press office.

It had caused panic until the official translation finally emerged.
