Subject: Prayers for Hanoi
Importance: High

THIS MESSAGE IS BEING SENT TO ALL PRIESTS, PASTORS, AND ADMINISTRATORS

Please see the attached and below regarding prayers for Hanoi, from the Office of Fr. Mike Heher, Vicar General.

Again there is conflict in Hanoi between the government and the Archdiocese over the property and building that had been the location of the Vatican Nunciature. It is a serious matter. Please see the following link for more details.

Bishop Brown has asked that prayers begin to be said on behalf of our sister diocese. Attached are two options. One is a prayer that the faithful can say outside of the liturgy. The other is a petition which can be added to the general intercessions at Mass. These prayers are short so I am hoping that you will be able to translate them into the appropriate languages. (And, if you do, please forward a copy to me so I can make it available to others.)

Bishop Brown has written a letter of support to Archbishop Kiet. He has also been in contact with our own National Bishops’ Conference who, in turn, is in contact with the Vatican about this matter. Father Tuan is keeping tabs on the state of affairs as it takes place through email contact with the Archbishop’s secretary. We will try to keep you informed as we receive information.

In the Lord,

Fr. Mike Heher
Vicar General
